Update: Steve Miller, Federated Financial v. Ed Magedson, Ripoff Report extortion suit

Since a reader posted a comment in one of the old postings regarding this suit, I had a look at Miller’s Magedson hate site at http://www.bad-business-rip-off.com/

Apparently Ed was deposed in October and Miller posted a few pages of the transcript.

Notably, he did NOT post most of the over 300 pages!

They’re harping on the fact that Ed moved Federated to the “top ripoff reports” to retaliate.

Why didn’t they depose ME to show how Ed personally retaliated against Miller?

Since apparently Ed sent me Miller’s personal data including DOB and SSN, they’d have at least one real claim against Ed for illegally obtaining the data and then distributing it with the intent to inflict damages, specifically asking me to post it.

I have had so many communications with all parties and their attorneys, I can make them all look like the scum they are.  But as long as they only ask about the e-mail, I can only answer regarding the e-mail.

So that leads me to conclude that Miller or one of his drones sent the mail to frame Ed.  But, why doesn’t Ed use that against them?

They ought to join forces to sue me for posting what morons they all are.

PRweb made Steve Miller remove all references to Ripoff Report

The PRweb response to my complaint about Miller’s release:

“We also found the press release to contain slanderous content. It has been edited. Thanks”

That is so lame.  There’s not even any mention of Ripoff Reports anymore:

New Group Takes Action Against Internet Libel

So, according to my tests, PRweb will knowingly condone press releases containing false advertisements as long as only consumers are hurt.  But as soon as a business could complain about slander, they pull the release.

I understand now why PRweb failed to honor EVP Jolly’s promise to offer suggestions for my censored Wellstone and Four Seasons releases:  it’s simply not possible to remove the subjects of my releases and still make sense.

So I’ve been working on my new LITIGATION NEWS site for a couple days.  I suck at design AND coding and didn’t even have an RSS feed here.  Well, that’s going to change soon.  I feel like I just crawled out of the dark ages, never even had an RSS reader.  And with FireFox it’s so easy to subscribe, this is ultra cool

I got most of the technical and structural issues for the Litigation News site worked out, well, in my mind that is.  Still have to implement many of my ideas, but I know that I got the software and services to get started.

And since there’s no point to limiting the site to my own releases, I’m going to offer free distribution for consumers and I’ll charge businesses, although I don’t know yet how much.

Editorial policy—that’s going to be interesting.

The way Miller’s release is written now, I’d have to set up a separate category for “legal services and resources.” I sure wouldn’t mind a release about his litigation against Magedson, with the case # and a status update.  I also wouldn’t mind a headline seeking others who want to sue Ripoff Report, as I did at Seeking Four Seasons Resorts Junk Fax Recipients for Class Action

I’ll probably have “featured” releases and will be rating releases.  I’d like to offer the feeds according to category and rating, access stats for the releases, the ability to upload pics, audio and video, with accounts much like PRweb.  I can work out those details (aka technical challenges) later, my priority is to get my own releases reposted at the new Litigation News site before PRweb pulls them all.

It’ll be interesting to see how many people are willing to put their names on their complaints and I’ll definitely have a link to Ripoff Report prominently displayed, for the anonymous whiners and complainers.

Hopefully I’ll be ready to post the link sometime next week for testing.

Federated Financial PRweb release: New Group Takes Action Against Internet Libel

I can’t look at PRweb without seeing misleading and deceptive releases.  Miller has the guts to talk about slander and libel when he’s the one who falsely claimed at his site that Magedson was arrested again.  Good thing I saved all that.

Of course I believe that Miller has the right to publicize:

“… For additional information, or if you have had a negative experience with online defamation, including at ripofferport.com, contact Steven J. Miller or visit his press releases on http://www.prweb.com. ...”

And I have the right to seek others for a class action against the Four Seasons Hotels and to offer a $1,000 reward for info leading to the prosecution of the Wellstone—WLSF junk faxers.

Since PRweb pulled *** my *** releases, I submitted my complaint to PRweb:

http://prweb.com/releases/2005/7/prweb259522.htm

Steve Miller is engaged in a legal battle with Magedson, apparently not doing so well and this is his way of slandering ripoffreport.com

You can read all about Steve Miller at http://fight-back.us/forum/index.php?showforum=42

I’d like you to rewrite this release to be more factual.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my second request to PRweb about a misleading release and I’m only submitting these complaints to document how they are targeting my releases ONLY and to establish that it takes a lot more to get a release deleted than a reader complaint.  I’m hoping that some consumer - free speech organization will do something about the corporate censorship.

THIS is what it’s all about:  “WLSF Mafia”

And Miller is such a whiner, here’s his entire release:

Federated Financial’s Chris McFarland arrested for aggravated assault in 2004?

I got a notification of a response to my Federated Ripoffreport (ROR) complaint and took a quick look, only to find another anti Federated rant by an ED supporter (or Ed himself).

But there was a link to another ROR posting with a link to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office:

7/6/04—Christopher McFarland—Aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony

Is this *the* Chris McFarland who has been defending Miller and Federated in many comments here and all over the web?

image

How could “Juan Stumofu” who claimed in his ROR posting to be in Rockville, Maryland, have all that apparently personal knowledge about the Miller / McFarland conversations?  Did he bug their office?

From Juan’s posting at ROR: “… I am told this case actually involves McFarland beating someone up to drop their lawsuit against FFS. In this case Miller needed McFarland to “take care of a company problem” and he viciously attacked a client. ...”

WHO told “Juan” that?

Well, it sure reads like another ED posting, but the Sheriff’s site does look authentic.

“… Recently, within the last couple of weeks, Miller and McFarland came back to the office after going to court. They were mad because things did not go well for them ...”

If something doesn’t go well in court, there are filings to substantiate it.  If you can link to the Sheriff, you can link to the court.

But then again, Ed may not want his readers to know what the suit is about.

And while I told Chris McFarland not to post here again, he can of course notify me or submit a comment here if *another* Christopher McFarland was arrested or if he wants to explain what this is about.

Ed Magedson and Steve Miller - claims of ID theft, extortion and death threats

This is one of the crazier stories I’ve been involved in yet and I’ll try to summarize the events during recent months.

Miller was upset because there were a few bad reports at Magedson’s http://bad-business-rip-off.net/ about his “non profit” credit counseling company https://www.federatedfinancial.org/.  I didn’t care for Miller’s Ed Magedson “hate site.”

On 11/15/04 I posted here: Is Ed Magedson, owner ripoffreport.com, an extortionist?
