CitiFinancial Auto is completely dysfunctional—ignored all communication re. repo

I previously posted about Citi ignoring my numerous attempts to get a client’s car back to them.  This is my final attempt to get their attention after they AGAIN attempted to repo the car at his parents’ place.

I’ve been VERY busy, but I will take the time to write a press release if I don’t get a response by Friday.

Re: Notice of publication and request for comments
[client name, SSN + account #]

To Whom It May Concern:

On 9/18/09, I informed you by fax that my client dropped off the car at the “CitiFinancial” office in Kingman, AZ.  He attempted to leave the keys and the statement with the account info and his new contact information at the “CitiFinancial” office.  However, he was told that they have nothing to do with “CitiFinancial AUTO” and they refused to accept the key and his statement.

Today, my client was informed that Citi ONCE AGAIN attempted to repo the car at his old address in Texas.

In my 7/14/09 fax I wrote:

Please be advised that [client] no longer lives in Texas and please don’t call the [redacted] anymore as that’s his parents’ phone.

In my 8/24/09 fax I wrote:

His new telephone / fax number is [redacted].

Please FAX any correspondence to him until he gets a permanent mailing address.

In my 9/18/09 fax I wrote:

If you had bothered to note that my client no longer lives in TX as I previously informed you TWICE, you wouldn’t have paid for a repo company to harass his parents.

Is there ANYTHING my client can do to get you to stop harassing his parents?

This fax is posted at [this URL] and I expect a response and explanation of the Citi wasteful business practices by Friday, 10/30/09.

Sincerely,

Christine Baker

If I don’t get a response, I’ll distribute a press release to some of the major financial news outlets and to legislators.

CitiFinancial abandons voluntarily surrendered car

image

Sometimes I think I’ve seen it all, but this really is a new one for me.

My client first tried to SELL the car for Citi and I contacted them in early July.  He owed over $7,000 and knew that he wouldn’t be able to make the payments anymore.

At first Citi was agreeable to accept less than the outstanding balance, somewhere around $4,000, recommended CarMax and asked me to call back if they offered less.  CarMax offered less, I called and they then wanted over $5,000 on 7/29/09.

On 8/23/09, I sent a fax to Citi, advising that my client would drop off the car at one of their offices.

In early September, Citi tried to repo the vehicle at his OLD address, despite the fact that I notified them that he had moved.

On 9/18/09, my client left the car at a CitiFinancial office.  They refused to accept the key and account statement with his contact information, stating that they have nothing to do with “CitiFinancial Auto”.  My client said he’d leave the car in the parking lot and the lady remarked that it would probably get towed.

Also on 9/18/09, I faxed to Citi the location of the car.

A month later, on 10/18/09 the car was STILL sitting in the parking lot at the CitiFinancial office.

A little dusty, but seemingly untouched.

Citi REFUSED the CarMax offer, then failed to pick up the car while spending money to repo it thousands of miles away.  And note that the morons at the CitiFinancial office acted as if they had nothing to do with “CitiFinancial Auto”.  They’re all part of Citi Group.

Next time they need a bailout, somebody should bring this posting to the attention of the legislators.
