GM foreclosing while payments are current?

An e-mail I got this afternoon:

"Hi Christine,

I know you're terribly busy, but GMAC is trying to foreclose on my house AGAIN...second time in five years (I beat them the first time).

It claims I've missed three mortgage payments, despite receiving copies of all cancelled checks that prove I am current.

It just will not stop the foreclosure, and I'm falling apart.

What do you charge for a referral, and would you help?

...please.

Thank you."

I sent the NACA link, hope she can find an attorney.

I'd act like I was fighting it, but let them forclose on it. Then I'd sue them, and buy a new house with the money I got from the settlement.

damages. Apparently, you've never been at the brink of foreclosure. And there may be people who really don't care one way or another or they would have moved anyway. For most people it's like being told that they or a loved has 6 weeks to live. Their lives revolve around doing whatever they can to keep their house.

It sucks not having a place to live.

Of course RICH people don't have a problem buying another house. Many of the people I deal with end up living in shacks or dinky apartments, are a burden to relatives and some even become homeless.

You also don't seem to realize that it takes several YEARS to get a settlement. If you think that all you need to do is head to your courthouse, file a lawsuit, and a few weeks later you get your $500,000 check, think again. It ain't so!

Update: GM said they would stop the foreclosure, they blame internal problems. Still haven't provided accounting though.
