FTC settles with spammers

FTC v. Westby, Bevelander and Maps Holding B.V.

I'm not excited about this settlement. So they pay a few bucks, which the FTC gets to use to put out stupid brochures, probably telling people to buy spam blockers like they advise the purchase of credit reports to prevent ID theft.

I don't understand why they don't put the spammers in jail. Make room by letting the potheads out. It just does not bother me at all that people get stoned.

It DOES bother me that I get well over 200 spams a day. That's after I already eliminated most of my e-mail addresses. I get spams with the subject:

"Christine, server down." Do I look at that mail? You bet.

The FTC actions on spam are as silly and useless as on ID theft.
